BINGLE'S BLOODY WELL BACK

Famed for her beach babe looks, Lara Bingle has spent the past tumultuous year in what sometimes felt like an out-of-body experience.

Struggling through a dark period after breaking up with rugby union player Danny Cipriani late last year, the model piled on the pounds as she nursed a broken heart.

But, thanks to a healthy eating and exercise regime, 25-year-old Bingle says she feels "in control" and ready to launch a new business venture.

"I've been quite large and now I feel like I am in my body," Bingle told The Sunday Telegraph. "Before I felt like I was forever fighting, eating like a rabbit, for what? Now, I enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle. I am loving life."

Bingle plans to emulate supermodel Elle Macpherson's global lingerie empire and launch her own line next year.

"I definitely believe it is going to be as big as Elle Macpherson's ... It's the right time," she said.

Bingle rose to prominence, aged 18, when she was chosen from obscurity to star in Tourism Australia's $180 million global campaign "So Where The Bloody Hell Are You?" in 2006.

From her broken engagement to Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke to her history of driving offences, her role in a controversial reality TV show and her weight battle, Bingle has endured more than her share of struggles in the spotlight.

But now, in a steady relationship with Sydney fashion identity Gareth Moody, Bingle feels stronger than ever.

"I've taken control of all my business. I am the spearhead of the business. I wish it ran that way three years ago, I might have not had so many hiccups," she said. "But I have no regrets."

BINGLE TAKES TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

Model and reality TV star Lara Bingle took a trip down memory lane this weekend.

Lara uploaded an old pic of herself with ex-fiance Michael Clarke on Twitter and Instagram, along with the caption: "From the archives."

In an unfortunate coincidence, Aussie Test captain Michael – who was batting against Sri Lanka in Hobart at the time – was dismissed minutes later for 74.

The 2009 photo was used in an advertising campaign for an energy drink.

Lara later deleted the pic from her Instagram account. She’s currently dating fashion designer Gareth Moody.

LARA COTTONS ON TO STYLE TIPS

She's been a model, reality TV star, ambassador, designer and general trouble magnet, but it seems Lara Bingle is starting to figure out what she's good at.

Having garnered a solid fan base thanks to her bold fashion choices, the 25-year-old is putting her styling skills to use this week, having been recruited by fashion chain Cotton On.

Bingle has signed on to offer creative advice for the brand as it shoots the latest CO Cotton On campaign, which features petite catwalk star Bambi Northwood-Blyth.

"It's a great experience being on the other side of the camera and offering creative support" Bingle, the former face of Speedo, says.

With her lingerie label also set for release next year, it looks like a career in fashion fits her like a Lanvin leather glove.'

LARA BINGLE INTERVIEW: "THE NUMBER-ONE THING I WANT IS CREDIBILITY"

She’s among our most famous women, though the reason for this is vague. Now, writes Jane Cadzow, Lara Bingle has a plan to "stand for something".

Lara Bingle is glowing gently from the exertion of her morning yoga class. Blonde hair tied in a ponytail, leopard-print Prada purse beside her on the back seat of the BMW, she is in good spirits - and not only because she is on her way to breakfast. As the car weaves through Sydney traffic, she explains that she is making a change in her life. She has a new set of priorities. "The No. 1 thing I want is credibility," she says.

Bingle is among the most famous young women in Australia: it is hard to think of another 25-year-old whose name and face are so firmly stamped on the national consciousness. She is stalked by paparazzi, features constantly in the gossip columns and recently starred in her own reality-TV series. Her messy romances, her nude-photo scandals, her difficulty with road rules - if you aren't up on this stuff, you haven't been paying attention.

Yet to even the most dedicated Bingle-watchers, the reason for her celebrity is vague. Certainly, she looks terrific in (or out of) a bikini. Granted, she once starred in a controversial Tourism Australia advertisement. True, she has a world-class array of gleaming white teeth, along with the rare ability to smile and talk at the same time. But as she cheerfully admits, "People say to me all the time, like, 'What do you do? What do you actually do?'"

It isn't an easy question to answer. "Yeah, it's weird, I lose my words sometimes because I don't know myself," she says. "Like, there's nothing you could actually pinpoint ... but there's just so much going on!"

In any case, and this is the reason for her excitement, she expects to chalk up a meaningful achievement in the near future. Her ambition, she says, is "to have depth and substance". The time has come "to stand for something, in particular one thing".

Yes, she is bringing out her own range of lingerie.

To Max Markson, one of her former agents, the point about Bingle has never been what she does, but what she is: "the quintessential Aussie beach girl". More than that, "she's a publicity magnet", says Markson. "If I sent out a news release now [it is about 2pm] - 'Lara Bingle is holding a news conference at three o'clock to make an important announcement' - a stack of media would come along to it." Outside politics, few in Australia have that kind of drawing power. "Shane Warne pulls a crowd. Lara Bingle pulls a crowd."

Odd, then, that Being Lara Bingle didn't rate better. The series' initial capital-city audience of 928,000 had dwindled to fewer than 400,000 by the time the final episode screened on the Ten network in August. Perhaps the London Olympics, then showing on Nine, out-bingled Bingle. Perhaps weekly exposure to Lara and the rest of the Bingle clan - mother Sharon Bingle, brother Josh Bingle, grandparents Nan and Pop Bingle - was too much for some viewers. Or perhaps people switched off when her then manager, Hermione Underwood, lit a candle and announced she was going to use it to remove Bingle's ear-wax.

Whatever the reason, it is a shame that so many fell by the wayside, because those who stuck with the show can look back on some golden moments. Bingle playing bingo with Nan Bingle, for instance. Bingle beaming beguilingly at the police officer who has just pulled her over ("I think I have a licence"). Bingle denying she uses fake-tan ("My skin is real. El naturel!"). Bingle examining a proof sheet of pictures of her naked self, taken with a telephoto lens through the glass doors of her bedroom. "I didn't realise how voluptuous I was," she says, momentarily forgetting her indignation. "Jeez, I've really got an arse, haven't I?"

Then there was the scene in which an uncharacteristically glum Bingle complains about a make-up job: "My eyebrows are dark and my eyes have got some weird thing on them. There's no colour. There's nothing ... I'm just saying, like, I feel like shit." Holding up her phone, she takes a photograph of herself and studies the image. "Actually," she decides, "I look quite good."

Some reviewers dismissed Bingle as vapid, vacuous and self-absorbed: how could anyone spend so much time gazing into reflective surfaces? But others found her likeable in a hapless sort of way. Michael Idato, a television writer for The Sydney Morning Herald, observed that "she seems most of the time to be like a deer in the headlights. Even if she's one who willingly wandered out of the forest looking for the nearest highway."

At a cafe overlooking Bondi Beach, Bingle orders toast with avocado and Vegemite. She says making the show was fun overall, though considerably more challenging than she expected. "We were doing, like, 12 to 14 hours a day, six days a week. We filmed for, like, three and a half months." For the duration, she lived here at Bondi in an $8 million apartment rented for her by the production company. Her life was recorded by a five-person film crew - an experience that she confesses wore thin after a while. Occasionally, she threatened to go on strike. "I was, like, 'I'm not filming today!"

Why did she agree to do it in the first place? She says she wanted people to get to know the real Lara Bingle. So many unkind things had been said about her over the years, "I just thought I really had nothing to lose ... I was hoping they would portray me - who I was - in the right light."

Most of us first set eyes on Lara Bingle in 2006, when she stood on a Whitsundays beach and asked the rest of the world, "Where the bloody hell are you?" The 18-year-old model had been plucked from obscurity to star in a $180 million campaign to boost tourism to Australia. Her question was intended to grab attention in overseas markets. Which it did. But the advertisement baffled the Japanese, was briefly banned in Britain and became the target of widespread derision at home. Bingle, who had merely said a line she'd been given, was guilty by association. "I was so young," she says. "I was like, 'I don't understand' ... But the blame was on me. And, like, ever since it's always been that."

What surprises Sam de Brito, author of the Fairfax blog All Men Are Liars, is not that Bingle attracts criticism, but how vitriolic some of it is. "I accept that some people find her whole persona irritating," de Brito says. "But being irritated by someone and lacerating them in the press or on a blog or on social media - I don't understand that."

When Fran Bailey, federal tourism minister at the time of the contentious campaign, went to the UK to persuade regulators to allow the ad to go to air, she took Bingle with her. "She was quite shy and naive," says Bailey, who was struck as much by the teenager's vulnerability as by her fresh-faced physical allure ("The one thing anyone would say about Lara is that she is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous-looking"). She remembers hoping that someone had Bingle's career in hand. "I thought she was a young woman who really did need sound, effective management."

That impression was reinforced when a men's magazine, Zoo Weekly, unearthed and published pictures of Bingle posing in skimpy swimsuits. "I thought, 'Oh my gawd'," Bailey says. "It wasn't the sort of image we were wanting to portray. I was very cross that this had come to light after we had done the launch." Bailey recalls that a friend asked her what Bingle was like. "I said, 'She has the looks and the body to be another Elle Macpherson. But not the brains.'"

Following in the footsteps of Macpherson - the Australian supermodel who has built a global lingerie empire - is, of course, exactly what Bingle wants to do. Even if her as yet unnamed lingerie line is a more modest success than Elle Macpherson Intimates, she hopes it will provide her with post-modelling income, as well as the satisfaction of working for herself. Creating her own label will make a nice change from endorsing other people's products. At the moment, she says, "everyone else owns Lara. And that's got an expiry date." (Her conversation is often like this: slightly off-kilter, but you get her drift.)

Fran Bailey isn't the only person to have questioned Bingle's savvy. "I just don't think she's very bright," said Dancing with the Stars judge Todd McKenney after she was eliminated from competition last year. One journalist, noting that Bingle had "Breathe" tattooed on the inside of a finger, suggested it was so she wouldn't forget. In Being Lara Bingle, her only sibling, 28-year-old Josh, said, "My sister is really easy to take the piss out of because she doesn't get a lot of stuff ... I don't know whether it's a blonde thing but, yeah, she doesn't seem to be too smart."

I gingerly ask Bingle how she feels about such comments. Pretty relaxed, as it turns out. "I guess it's just because I've grown up in the media," she says in a breezy tone. Her mother, Sharon, seems equally unperturbed, assuring me that Josh didn't really mean what he said. "You've got to understand the dynamics between the two," Sharon says. "It's a jokey thing."

Make-up artist Max May, who is Bingle's closest friend, first worked with her on a shoot for Speedo swimwear. "When we met, I was just, like, 'Wow, you're actually really cute and fun and sweet,' " says May, who argues that her ditzy reputation is undeserved. "I mean, Lara will be the first one to admit she has said some pretty stupid things. We've all said stupid things, but we're not all being recorded."

Still, Bingle doesn't do herself many favours. Before presenting a music award, she wrote on Twitter: "Lara is def going to F*#K up at the MTV Awards ... Hahaha I'm such a retart [sic]." On the morning in July that a Sydney court heard driving charges against her, she played a game of "Will Lara Lick It?" in the studio of radio station MIX 106.5. Touching her tongue to a nine-volt battery, she said, "It doesn't do anything." Then she said, "Oh yeah, oh my God, it gives me, like, a shock!"

A few days earlier, she had posted a picture on the Instagram photo-sharing network of two Guatemalan children smoking cigarettes, with the comment, "Poverty-stricken but still cool as f...". In a hastily released statement, Bingle's publicity agency, Tailor Maid Communications, explained that, "in essence, Lara felt the imagery was beautiful, but on reflection and understanding of people's feedback and comments, Lara decided to pull the image down".

One thing about being Lara Bingle: it's never dull. As her mother says, "Golly, lots of things have happened to Lara." As Bingle herself puts it, "Like, my life has been so crazy and up and down."

Take the Brendan Fevola episode. Soon after making the tourism ad, Bingle had a brief fling with Fevola, then the AFL's leading goalkicker. When news of the affair broke, she insisted she hadn't realised he was married - which didn't stop her being cast as a hussy and home wrecker. "The contempt and the rage and the sneering directed at her seemed out of all proportion with the mistake that she'd made," says Sam de Brito, who suspects the fuss might have been more muted if Bingle, by then 19, hadn't been quite such a bombshell. "There just seems to be a real animosity towards sexually powerful young women."

The next sports star to fall under Bingle's spell was Michael Clarke, then the doe-eyed dauphin of Australian cricket (and now the captain). Superficially, they seemed a perfect match: both blonde, both paid large sums to advertise big-name brands (she had the Speedo account, he posed for Bonds), both partial to tattoos, both addicted to Twitter. "On the couch watching the football ..." Clarke once tweeted. "I don't do this enough ... What's my girl reading?"

"Reading British Vogue in my room baby!!" Bingle replied. "Yep we are tweeting each other from diff rooms in the same house ..."

Bingle was with Clarke for more than three years, in which time he had her initials inked on his shoulder and presented her with a diamond engagement ring reportedly valued at $200,000. He also gave her an Aston Martin V8 Vantage worth more than $250,000, later admitting to an interviewer that he was scared to get into it with her. "Lara isn't a terrible driver, she's a crazy driver," he said. Bingle shared Clarke's $6 million apartment and travelled the world with him, watching him rack up boundaries. "I was living the perfect life, as I thought, and it was all very easy," she says. "Everything in that space in my life was pretty much handed to me on a plate."

Then, in March 2010, Woman's Day published a picture of Bingle in the shower, allegedly taken by Fevola during their earlier liaison. At first, Bingle was seen as the wronged party - it was clear from her dismayed expression that she hadn't wanted to be photographed - but sympathy turned to anger when Max Markson, then her agent, brokered a deal to sell her side of the story to the same magazine for a fee rumoured to be close to $200,000. Now she was not just a scarlet woman, but a greedy one. Tension escalated when Clarke abandoned a cricket tour of New Zealand to fly to her side.

The late Fairfax columnist Peter Roebuck predicted that the talented batsman would never lead the national team while in Bingle's thrall. "He seems to be locked in a love affair with a beautiful but possibly unstable woman," Roebuck wrote. "Lara Bingle has all the hallmarks of a femme fatale. Restaurateurs complain about her manners and the company she keeps. She craves attention and courts controversy. Yet her paramour seems besotted. Beauty and danger are a potent combination."

That was mild compared with some of the stuff that was written. "She was bullied, both by anonymous internet users and media professionals," says de Brito, while Sharon Bingle remembers being bemused by the furore: "I thought, 'Has my daughter killed somebody or what?'"

The strength of emotion unleashed convinced Anna Hickey-Moody, a lecturer in gender and cultural studies at Sydney University, that hostility towards Bingle was tinged with fear. "I think people are scared because she's so appealing," says Hickey-Moody. In this case, her ability to lure Clarke away from the crease was perceived as verging on the traitorous: "Our national identity is so embedded in a thing like a cricket match that she became synonymous with threatening national pride."

When Clarke's management announced a few days after his return to Australia from the New Zealand tour that he and Bingle had decided to split up, sports fans breathed a collective sigh of relief. The cricketer then rejoined the team and hit a brilliant century, earning the admiration of a grateful nation. Sharon Bingle has always liked Clarke, but she believes coverage of the end of the engagement was hopelessly one-sided, and that her daughter suffered as a result. "He came out of it squeaky clean," she says. "And they destroyed her. They absolutely destroyed her."

Bingle has been modelling since she was five. Raised in the Sutherland Shire, in southern Sydney, she started with Big W and Best & Less catalogues and moved on to TV commercials. "I think I did, like, a Campbell's soup and, like, a Head & Shoulders," she says. "I was with an agency called Cute Kids." By her early teens, her career was really taking off and some of her classmates at Port Hacking High were jealous: at least, she thinks that's why she was bullied. It got so bad she changed schools, commuting to St Vincent's College in Potts Point. Then, at the end of year 10, she turned her back on academia altogether, heading for the catwalks and cameras of Milan.

"I wasn't scared," she says. "I just went. And loved every minute." But at 168 centimetres, she wasn't really tall enough - or skeletally thin enough - for Europe's high-fashion designers. After about a year, she came back to Australia, where her curvy build guaranteed her work as a swimsuit model. She quickly landed the Tourism Australia job and before long was happily partnered with Clarke. "I was very much living in Michael's shoes," she says.

Well, in his penthouse, really. What she means is that Clarke's career took precedence, and that at first she didn't mind at all. "But there's only so long you can do that before you start to want to do things on your own." When they broke up, she took out a mortgage on a small apartment in inner-city Darling Point, but Speedo did not renew her contract and other modelling jobs started to dry up. "Bingle goes from glam to grunge," said a headline in Melbourne's Herald Sun. As she recalls, "I was like, 'What am I going to do next?'"

She embarked on a romance with Melbourne Rebels rugby union player Danny Cipriani, declaring on the cover of Who magazine: "I'm in love!" But within a month, Cipriani was out of the picture. ("He dropped me on my arse so hard that my arse cheeks are still hurting," is the way she put it on her TV show.) While her broken heart mended, she snacked. And tweeted: "Counting the empty spaces in the box of truffles I was sent today. 15 f...!!" By last November, Who was reporting that she had gained six kilograms. Paparazzi were said to be camped outside her door, shouting, "Give us a fat shot, Lara!"

The extra weight did nothing for her job prospects. "Everything was just one after the other," she says. "Nothing went right. Everything was getting worse." Max May worried dreadfully about her. "It was absolutely horrible," he says. "She was in a pretty dark place. But thankfully we're definitely out of that now. She's working on getting her body to a place where she's happy."

Earlier this year, Famous magazine ran the line "Fat or Fab?" over a cover picture of a bikini-clad Bingle during the plumper period. She was devastated. "She's copped a lot of flak," says May. "But she's taken it on the chin and she's kept on going. She's a definite fighter."

These days, Bingle exercises regularly and diets conscientiously. "That Vegemite and avocado was a true treat," she says when we're back in the BMW, leaving Bondi. "You don't often see me eating like that." Her business advisor, George Moskos, who is at the wheel, says he noticed she polished off both slices of toast: "I was, like, 'Wow. Lara's indulging today.'"

Bingle tells me she decided she wanted Moskos on her team when she heard that he had helped model Miranda Kerr create her own brand of organic skincare products. "I was like, I've got to track this man down." Fortunately, he wasn't deterred by the dramas that swirl around Bingleworld. "Actually, that's what attracted me to wanting to work with Lara - the fact that there's been this rocky road," Moskos says.

He is confident that Bingle's high profile will help her sell a lot of lingerie. "Sure, she's got a very polarising personality and image, but there are so many people who really love her."

Moskos, Bingle and six others are sitting around a boardroom table, earnestly discussing Brand Bingle. Leading the conversation is Simon Bookallil, who heads an agency called Bashful ("We specialise in integrated creative strategy") and describes himself as a brand architect. "Let's face it, in this world, celebrities are brands," he says. "And they need to be managed in that way."

Bookallil doesn't want to sound uncaring. "Lara is a living, breathing human," he says. "She's sitting right here. She is herself." Bingle looks chuffed. Bookallil continues. "We're not trying to say, 'Lara, be this, do this.' We're not controlling her. What we're doing is setting up the best opportunity for the brand to exist." This involves market research. What do people really think of Bingle? How large does she loom in the cultural landscape?

"Our feeling is that there are very few people in this country who have the ability to influence an audience as much as Lara," Bookallil says. "Particularly females under 35. It's because she's so real and honest in how she presents herself. And because she gives access to herself via social media in a very human way." He reads a few comments from Bingle's Facebook page: "I love you Lara, you're so Aussie ... You make me laugh every time I watch your show ... I would love to hang out with you one day ..." Apparently, this all means there is likely to be strong demand for Bingle's bras and knickers. "In terms of Lara the brand, it is a great opportunity," Bookallil says.

Talking about the meeting later, Bingle reiterates the key message: "Lara Bingle is a brand, but it's also me. And they're two very different things." She says she is aware that her popularity with young women shot up when she put on weight last year. "That's when girls in general really reached out." She pauses. "It's a weird world we live in."

At one point in Being Lara Bingle, Sharon Bingle says, "What's this, the third time you've lost your licence, Lara? I can't keep track."

Sharon isn't the only one. In September, AAP reported that a Sydney magistrate had listed traffic infringements including "at least" six speeding offences this year. Bingle was on a two-month driving ban when in May she and her black Range Rover had a ... bingle with a motorbike at a Bondi Beach intersection. The rider suffered a dislocated shoulder but, while others gathered to help, Bingle left the scene.

"It was absolute panic," Sharon says. "She knew she shouldn't have been driving that car and she panicked." The next day, she turned herself in: "She said, 'Mum, I'm going to go to the police station.' I said, 'Yes, that's what you've got to do, Lara.' " In court, she pleaded guilty to driving on a suspended licence, failing to give way and not leaving her details after a crash. She was ordered off the road for another year, fined $3500 and given an 18-month good behaviour bond.

"I've come to the realisation that I'm not a good driver," says Bingle, who rides a bicycle and a leopard-print skateboard these days. "I take responsibility for my mistakes and, you know, my mishaps." For more than a year, she has had a steady boyfriend - Gareth Moody, co-founder of the Ksubi menswear label. She campaigns to raise awareness of bowel cancer, the disease that killed her father in 2008. George Moskos is optimistic that she is sorting out her life and has a bright future: "She's grown up. She's focused. She's got a purpose."

Bingle sometimes marvels at how much she has fitted into the past five years. "God knows what's going to happen from 25 to 30," she says. Her hunch is that big things are in store for both Bingles - the brand and the person. She smiles. "I've got so much to give!"

LARA SET TO LAUNCH LINGERIE LINE

Lara Bingle is set to launch her own fashion label. The 25-year-old is following the likes of Elle Macpherson by starting up her own lingerie line.

Although the label is in the early stages of development, Bingle has confirmed that she is in talks with a big retailer about producing her own line, with a view to launching next year.

"My goal is to create a luxurious, affordable collection that empowers women and makes them feel sexy in their lingerie," the model-turned-reality TV star said.

The association came about after Bingle approached George Moskos - founder of Miranda Kerr's Kora Organics - this year about creating her own business.

"Lara has always had a love for fashion, she has a huge fan base and is well recognised for her sense of style," Moskos said.

"She is passionate about putting her name to something she truly believes in and has been very hands on."

LARA LETS SLIP A BIT TOO MUCH PRIVATE INFORMATION

Something of an awkward silence fell over the CLEO swimsuit party on Tuesday night when it came time for cover girl Lara Bingle to take to the stage.

The bikini babe and guest of honour was doing a Q & A with the magazine's editor, Gemma Crisp

After some banter about beaches, the 25-year-old then added words to the effect of: "I also can't wait to have lots of sex with my boyfriend."

Cue awkward silence.

"It was really weird - everyone just kind of went ... 'did she really just say that?'" one party-goer remarked.

The annual event was this year held at Waterbar inside the Blue Hotel at Woolloomooloo, which had been transformed into a tropical cabana.

ANOTHER FIVE MINUTES WITH LARA BINGLE

I first met Lara Bingle in Vail, Colorado, earlier this year when we were both there on a ski vacation (although she snowboards).

She is one down-to-earth, funny, uncomplicated girl. She laughs all the time, chats to anyone and is super generous. She’s an awesome snowboarder and, despite what everyone thinks, is no party girl. She hardly touched a drop of alcohol and was home in bed by around 10pm each night - Shonagh Walker

When I discovered she’s a bit of a health nut too, I wanted to find out more about her holistic lifestyle…

SW: What have you been working on since the first season of Being Lara Bingle ended?
LB: I’ve been working behind the scenes on a new fashion project that’s a bit hush-hush at the moment. We are not doing a second season of the show just yet; it is so exhausting. I am just putting everything in good stead for next year.

I want to study nutrition for the next six months. Nutrition has impacted my life from gaining weight and losing weight. Everyone has such an opinion and I want to take it as I interpret it. I also want to stimulate my brain in areas other than fashion.

SW: What’s this I hear about you and coconut water?
LB: I’ve been drinking this brand of coconut water, H2COCO, for about a year now and really like it. A family friend of mine owns the business and I really like water so I’ve agreed to be the face of it. Since then I’ve been working with them quite closely. I don’t like doing things that I don’t believe in, but I do actually drink this and it’s great.

I use coconut oil too. I use it after a shower because it absorbs beautifully into your skin and it’s really hydrating. I also cook with it. Coconut in that realm it is good for everything. And then you can’t carry around the coconut – so the coconut water is great.

SW: Your body is amazing right now! What have you been doing?
LB: NO! Ha ha ha! I’ve just been doing Pilates and yoga about four times a week. And then I don’t drink wine during the week. I am really healthy during the week – no carbs, no sugar or dairy and then on the weekends I will have a glass of wine or some vegemite and avocado toast. It’s still healthy. Keeping it consistent is the thing. Feeling light is important to me now. I used to overeat so much. Now I eat normal foods, but smaller portions.

SW: What are your summer beauty tips?
LB: I like the sea salt spray in my hair in summer … I love the texture it gives my hair. I don’t really use anything special on my skin, but sunscreen is always imperative. I always need to take my make-up off before bed. That should be every girl’s absolute must. I really like saunas and steam rooms, especially when I travel - after a long plane trip you feel full of fluid and bloated. That is a ritual.

I also love Dove Protective Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15 [$10.52, 1800 061 027]. I use it every day – it gives me a fresh, dewy finish no matter how tired my skin may be.

SW: You seem really calm and serene, too. You’re in a really good place. What’s your secret?
LB: I am pretty low maintenance and I like to live light. I think if you eat light, live light, don’t have too much clutter in your house, then you feel better. I meditate more than I used to.

The consistency of the Pilates and yoga keeps me feeling great. I also throw in a little cardio for stimulation. You can’t just do one thing, or you get bored. It’s important too, not to deny yourself. It’s great to have a day off at the end of the week.

AUSTRALIA'S HOTTEST BIKINI BODIES: LARA BINGLE

The swimsuit model and TV personality has an apparel line in the work

Lara, you're the ultimate Aussie beach girl - are you ready for summer?
Yeah, I feel good. I feel in control of it body-wise, mentally and physically.

What's made you feel in control?
I've taken control of what I'm eating, how I'm training, work - I think all of it has to be balanced for you to be happy.

You're in love as well - with Gareth Moody who designs Chronicles of Never - that must be making you extra happy?
It's been nice - having that consistent person in my life and being able to share things with him. And having someone that actually wants to hang out with me - that's the most important thing. Gareth's very grounding, much more so than other relationships.

You've had your share of body battles. Are you comfortable with your weight now?
I go up and down depending on what month is is. What I've found is that consistent eating and training is the key. All those fad diets that I tried [didn't work]. I now allow myself to eat something bad and not feel guilty. And I don't exercise as extremely as I used to either, because it only made me more hungry. Now it's just Pilates, yoga, walking and a little bit of running.

You said earlier that you didn't realise how much you used to eat, portion-wise..
That's right. Portion size is such a big thing. I have small plates at home so that I only eat the size of my plate. Otherwise, you don't have that stop button - especially out at restaurants. You don't need that much food!

What do you cook yourself at home?
I eat a lot of fish and roasts - like chicken and lamb, all protein-based, with vegetables. But I might also make a pizza that's wheat-free and topped with healthy stuff.

What does sumer mean to you?
The beach and being active outdoor - I love paddle boarding, surfing and skateboarding.

LARA NOT SO SCARY AS HOST OF 'YELLOWEEN' AT MARQUEE

Party-goers holding their breath to see Lara Bingle's Halloween costume at the weekend let out a sigh of disappointment after the fledgling model failed to don fancy dress.

The 25-year-old was the host of "Yelloween" - A Veuve Clicquot party at Marquee nightclub on Saturday - and arrived with some friends about 11pm to judge the costume competition, with the winner taking home a 9L bottle of champers.

Looking amazing in Romance Was Born, Bingle et al hobnobbed way past midnight sipping on Belvedere vodka in a private booth.

LARA BINGLE TALKS HEALTHY LIVING, EXERCISE AND H2COCO PURE COCONUT WATER

Primped sat down with Lara Bingle, who has recently been named the brand ambassador for H2COCO Pure Coconut Water, to talk healthy living, exercise, and the secret to her enviable bikini body and flawless skin.

PRIMPED: How do you feel about being named Brand Ambassador of H2COCO?
Lara Bingle: I really liked coconut water when I discovered it while I was living in New York. We didn’t have it in Australia yet, but this all came about because a friend of mine owns the company and when I heard he was bringing it out, I said to him, ‘I want to be a part of this.’

P: So you were a fan before you became the ambassador?
LB: Yes, definitely. I loved coconut anyway, but you obviously can’t take it everywhere with you. H2COCO has become an alternative drink to water for me because I don’t drink soft drink or juices in the carton.

P: What differences have you noticed in your overall health and wellbeing since you started drinking it?
LB: It’s just an overall general feeling, mainly of feeling a lot more hydrated. It’s not too sugary so it doesn’t give you bursts of energy, it’s consistent, which works for me. Also, it’s perfect for when you think you’re hungry, but you’re actually thirsty.

P: How often do you drink it?
LB: I usually have one after I’ve been to the gym, and I always have them at home because they’re so easy to drink on the go. When I have friends over to my house, I use H2COCO a healthy alternative to soft drinks to add to any mixed drinks as well!

P: Do any other coconut-based products play a part in your beauty routine?
LB: One tip that has stuck with me is from my best friend Max (makeup artist Max May), which is using coconut oil while you are in the shower because your skin absorbs it. I also cook with it now, and take it with me in a little container when I’m travelling. But because it is actually hot on the skin, I’ve recently been told not to use it on my face, just my body.

P: When it comes to exercise, what does your weekly routine consist of?
LB: Consistency is really important. I used to run a lot and noticed I became really hungry all the time, and was eating double what I eat now. But then I noticed once I started doing three to four sessions of pilates and yoga a week, it calmed my crazy life down and I felt a lot more relaxed. I think that doing different activities and also mixing it up with outdoor sports is good, too, as it’s a lot more stimulating than just running on a treadmill. I think it’s all about incorporating exercise into your life and not letting it be something you are forced into doing, so exercising with my friends and boyfriend always helps. Food is most important, though, because you can train but if you eat badly it won’t work.

P: You mentioned you also play a lot of different outdoor sports. What are your favourite activities?
LB: I love doing yoga outside, but when it comes to outdoor activities and sports, I like snow-boarding, surfing, skate-boarding and wake-boarding. I also ride my bicycle everywhere and run or walk the Bondi to Bronte Walk as often as I can, even while I’m working. My walks often become meetings!

P: What are some of your favourite foods? What would regular food day be for you?
LB: With all the exercise that I do, I have to fuel my body, so I start the day with a couple of boiled eggs because I can peel them and eat them on the go, and on the weekends I might have toast with avocado. For lunch I’ll have sashimi, sushi or tuna salad, so I have a lot of protein and salad or vegetables and I also have little snacks throughout the day, like almonds. For dinner, my boyfriend and I both cook, and it’s usually just some kind of protein and vegetables. I also have a sweet tooth, so for a treat I have goji berries and dark chocolate, and I love chocolate bullets! I try and eat as organically as possible, so Max and I go to the food markets to buy our fresh fruit and vegetables. Oh, and I love juices – anything green – like cucumber, kale, spinach, and also lemon, ginger and apple.

P: Do you find time to get enough sleep?
LB: I get at least 8 – 10 hours sleep a night. Last night I went to sleep at 9pm! I can’t cope if I haven’t had enough sleep.

P: What beauty buys are you currently loving?
LB: For years I’ve been religiously using Dove Protective Tinted Moisturiser SPF15, $10.52, from supermarkets. Max gets a lot of products which he always gives to me to try, too. But mainly when it comes to beauty I always wear sunscreen and also I make sure I wash my makeup off before bed.

P: What’s your signature summer look?
LB: I love bronzer. If I could make a bronzer, one would be a liquid illuminiser and another would be a matte one, so you could use it on both your eyes and cheekbones for an overall glow. Max uses the Nars Bronzer in Laguna, $55, Mecca Cosmetica, on me, though. And as for eyeliner, Max has been using Illamasqua’s Medium Pencil in Vow, $17, Myer, which doesn’t look as bright as a white liner. But on the weekends, I try and wear hardly any makeup, just a little mascara.

P: We loved lately when you did your bold lip and the glittering ear cuff!
LB: This was over the weekend at Caulfield Cup. I was wearing a black Camilla and Marc jumpsuit and the diamante ear cuff is by Sarina Suriano; I collaborated with her for the design. I actually did my own hair and makeup, this lipstick was Tom Ford’s Lipstick in Cherry Lush, $65, from select David Jones, and then I just pulled my hair back into a knot.

P: Epsom Super Saturday last year, this was one of our favourite looks. The lace adds a little drama!
LB: This was at the races and I always try and wear something a little bit different when I’m going there. I was wearing a Dion Lee dress here, and then I got a piece of lace and just tied it around my head. As for the makeup, it was just really natural makeup with eyeliner.

P: And lastly …

Signature scent? I’ve got a lot of Jo Malone, I love Tom Ford Black Orchid, from $100, David Jones, for the evening, but during the day I like something fresh and subtle. I bought Burberry Body, $79, select department stores yesterday, which I love. And also Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Eau de Parfum, $140, from department stores.

Favourite Drink? H2COCO Pure Coconut Water

Favourite Restaurant? I love The Apollo in Potts Point, Sydney

Facial/Day Spa: For cheap massages, Max and I go to Sylk on Oxford Street, Sydney

We grabbed five minutes with the new face of H2COCO Coconut Water, Lara Bingle, to find out her top beauty tips and best dating advice!

How did your association with H2COCO Water come about?
The association came about as I have been family friends with David Freeman and Andrew Hawkins (founders of H2COCO) for years. They already knew that I was a big fan of H2COCO Coconut water. It is the perfect alignment for me as it is a product that I believe in and one that fits with my philosophy towards healthy living.

You were quoted as saying you’d never watched your own reality TV show – does that still stand? Why or why not?
I have watched ‘Being Lara’ but seeing yourself on TV is something you never get used to!

What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever been given?
Always wear sunscreen. It is so important with our harsh Australian sun.

What’s your skincare routine?
My skincare routine is relatively low-maintenance, I always remove my makeup before I go to bed and I am religious about applying moisturiser to my skin to keep it soft and hydrated.

You’re known for your fashion-forward style – who are you most inspired by?
Chloe Sevigny.

FINISH THESE SENTENCES...
The best place I’ve ever eaten a coconut is...
On a beach in Mexico but I like to recreate that experience with H2COCO on a daily basis. It is a close second!

The number 1 album on my playlist at the moment is...
The XX – Angels.

Item of clothing I’m addicted to right now...
I can’t name just one! I am addicted to my leather pants, black blazer and vintage T-shirts.

If I could be any character from a movie, I would be...
Anything starring Sophia Loren, she is all woman and has brains to boot.

Best piece of dating advice I’ve ever been given is...
Trust your intuition.

The most stupid thing I’ve ever read about myself is...
That my brother is my boyfriend!

LARA POSES TOPLESS FOR H2COCO ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

Lara Bingle has been photographed topless, but this time it's on her own terms.

The model, who kicked off her reality TV endeavour in June with a scandal involving nude photos, shot a campaign for a coconut water brand in Bali earlier this year sans bikini top.

The Sydney fashion identity, who was last month given an 18-month good-behaviour bond and fined $3500 after pleading guilty to driving offences, is working on building her brand again.

The 25-year-old is spending most of her time working on a secret project with business manager George Moskos.

The advertising campaign for H2COCO is expected to launch later this month.

ERIN AND LARA JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST BOWEL CANCER

We don't just run photos of pretty girls on these two pages for nothing. No way.

We are more than happy to promote Channel 9 rugby league reporter Erin Molan and model Lara Bingle if it helps support their fight against bowel cancer.

Erin has joined Lara as Bowel Cancer Australia ambassadors after her sister Sarah was diagnosed with the terrible disease at the age of 29.

"I had no idea that bowel cancer could affect young women like Sarah," Erin said. "She was 29 years old and enjoying life with her husband and two little children when she was diagnosed. That was two years ago and it continues to have a huge impact on our family.

"Unfortunately, most people don't know enough about bowel cancer although it is the second biggest cancer killer of Australian men and women. It claims more lives than breast or prostate cancer."

More than 14,000 Australians are diagnosed with the disease each year, although fewer than 1000 are under the age of 50. Lara's father, Graham, was taken by the disease in 2008.

LARA GOES AU NATUREL AS SHE SHOWS OFF HER BIKINI BODY

Lara Bingle paraded her enviable body on Bondi Beach yesterday (Thursday).

Wearing a tiny string bikini, the 25-year-old beauty seemed natural and at home as she sunned herself with friends at the secluded spot on Sydney’s most famous beach.

Snapped there just a week before, it seems to be Lara’s favourite place to unwind during breaks in her busy schedule.

Her tiny patterned bikini top, barely containing her ample curves, might have been a different colour to her grey bikini bottoms, but she seemed to pull of the mismatched look with confidence.

With a group of friends, the young model and TV star was all smiles as she lowered herself into the water before sinking under the surface for a refreshing swim.

Completely make-up free and with her blonde hair scraped back in a bun, Lara seemed to be embracing the natural look and clearly didn’t care who saw her.

Currently dating fashion designer Gareth Moody, Lara finally seems to have found the one, as she Tweeted a picture of the pair kissing just hours after her beach session.

The loved up pair then headed out in Sydney last night to see the world famous Cirque de Soleil.

The stylish couple have been dating for nearly 10 months, making it one of Lara’s longest relationships and leading to rumours that a winter engagement might be on the cards.

LARA SIZZLES WHILE TOPPING UP HER TAN

Lara Bingle stripped off to a leather bikini swimsuit as she topped up her tan on Sydney's Bondi beach.

The 25-year-old beauty, showed exactly why she has a legion of male fans - displaying her stunning figure after a grueling workout session.

While others relaxed on the beach, Bingle put herself through the paces to ensure she maintains her slender figure with a fitness regime that included swimming and boxing.

She then took a breather after heading to a secluded spot, showing of her leather bikini as she joked about with her close pal.

The model reclined against a cliff wall, looking relaxed and content as she savoured the quiet time with her partner.

At one point her bliss was interrupted by a potential wardrobe malfunction, and she had to adjust her bikini bottoms.

She recently credited her partner with helping her reclaim a sense of normality, saying: 'He takes me away from the craziness. If I didn’t have that, I’d go insane,'

Bingle certainly needs the break, the Australian star is big news in her homeland at the moment after starring in her own reality TV show Being Lara Bingle.

LARA: 'I'M GLAD THE CAMERAS ARE GONE!'

Fresh from her holiday in Thailand with boyfriend Gareth Moody, Lara Bingle turns up to our photo shoot at Icebergs Dining Room and Bar in Sydney's Bondi Beach sporting an amazing tan. And she's five minutes early! In celeb land, that's unheard of.

She doesn't have a ring on that finger after her romantic getaway, and when asked, Lara just laughs and shakes her head. So much for that psychic in India predicting she'd be married by September!

Sitting down with the beautiful ice-blue-eyed blonde, we chat about her life after her reality show Being Lara Bingle - and how her boyfriend Gareth keeps her fit! And no, we don't mean like that...

You've moved out of your Bondi Beach flat - how does it feel being back in the 'hood?
I miss the beach, but I haven't missed living on set. My life is so crazy, it's nice to go home and just relax and not have the cameras around.

Has it been hard seeing yourself on TV?
It's been confronting but it's made me more aware of myself and how I act. There were times where I wish I reacted to some situations differently. I often smile at inappropriate times. It's a nervous reaction for me.

You've copped flak for the show. Was it worth it?
Yeah! I get criticism regardless if I have a show, but the show puts a emphasis on that there are always two sides to every story.

How do you deal with the negativity?
I don't - I just keep doing what I love! I have a pretty blessed life because I get to do what I love. I just focus on the good stuff!

Have people seen the real Lara now?
Yep, what was portrayed is the person I am. It wasn't scripted, it as real, my friends and family were on it and I didn't have any edit control.

Do you think the show has helped your career?
Throughout the show I worked with some great brands and publications, and according to my managers, there's been a spike in interest for me. I think, in Australia, people can be a bit apprehensive to say yes to someone like me who they might consider a risk, but the show has shown me in a good and real light, and has humanised me!

Will there be a second season?
Maybe. Fingers crossed!

What's next for you?
I'm working on an apparel range, which I'm launching mid next year. I can't wait! It's been a long time in the making. It will be a dream come true for me!

Are you happy with your body right now?
I've been working hard and eating well. I put on about eight kilos last year, and I've got a bit more to shed. But I'm happy with my body!

How are you planning on shedding those last kilos?
Consistency! I have a tendency to get off the train, so I'm just going to keep going. I'm going to eat right, train hard - every day!

What's your fitness routine?
I do power yoga four days a week and cardio - running or walking - three days a week, and some weights in the gym.

What about your diet?
I've done juice detoxes in the past as well as eliminating carbs, sugar and dairy from my diet. I like to keep it interesting! But generally my diet consists of proteins, greens and a little bit of fruit.

What have you learned about diet and fitness through your years as a model?
When I was younger, I could eat whatever I wanted. But I'm not that girl anymore, and as I've got older I've realised I have to work hard and eat right to maintain a tight physique. I remember when I first stopped eating bread, it was the hardest thing! But you get over that, and it's obviously part of my job. If I don't look great, it affects my work.

Do you weight yourself?
Not really. It's not about the scales, it's about your proportions!

Which celeb has the best body?
Jessica Alba, Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot - they all look amazing and have curves. Women should look like women and be proud of their curves. You don't have to be stick thin to be beautiful! I'm blessed to have curves, and I want to keep them, so I don't want to lose too much weight. I just want to be toned!

Do you lose or gain weight in a relationship?
Definitely lose, especially with Gareth! He's a fitness fanatic and eats really well - and he looks so good! He's my inspiration! During our holiday we were really active, we kayaked 20km and went rock climbing. He's also a great cook and he cooks for me - healthy stuff, of course! My other boyfriend Max May has a great body, too. I can't let them win now, can I?

FOR THE LOVE OF LARA

Our favourite model, reality-TV star and It girl chats to Cosmo about life, love and Being Lara Bingle

Congratulations on the TV show. Did you ever expect that people would be talking about it so much?
Thank you. No it's kind of surreal. It's like I'm watching a home video!

You seem to cop your fair share of criticism. How do you handle it?
If I was reading everything about my life, good and bad, I wouldn't be doing a show like this. It's a bit confronting at times, but positive and negative comments really do mean the same to me now. It is what it is. If I'm happy, and I'm getting to do what I love and believe in, then the rest is kind of irrelevant.

How has the show affected your relationship with your boyfriend, fashion designer Gareth Moody?
He's not a part of the show, so it hasn't really. He has his own life and does his own thing. And that's what's nice about it - it's refreshing. My previous relationships were so intense and full-on because there was that extra pressure of being in the spotlight. He's one of the most private people I've met, and I respect that a lot.

How do you guys make it work when your schedules are so busy?
I don't know, to tell you the truth, but we do! He travels a lot too. You just make it work; if you want to, you do. Even if I just have half an hour spare, I'll drop in and have a coffee. You make time for the people you care about.

What about your relationship with your mum? How would you describe it?
Oh God… It's complicated at times. We love each other a lot, but sometimes we butt heads on certain things - we're both strong characters! I travel so much and then I'll come home and be like, "Can I have a home-cooked dinner?" or "Can you do my washing?" - you know, things that daughters do. She takes it in her stride a lot, but sometimes she can get a bit upset and emotional about me coming in and out. We aren't perfect - but who is?

Your style has evolved a lot. Do you ever look back and regret what you've worn?
Yep! There have been dresses that I probably wouldn't wear now. The thing with my style is, I worked with Christine Centenera for a long time, and she dresses a certain way; I found I was very much dressing like her. I definitely learnt a lot from her, but when I started to dress myself, it was like an extension of my personality. I'm working with a new stylist, now Mikey, who's great.

Name your five must-have wardrobe items.
A plain black blazer, a white T-shirt or singlet, leather pants, a white button-up shirt and a leather jacket.

What's your daily diet and exercise regime like?
I just eat really well during the week and then on Sunday, within reason, I'll have a meal or two off. I have that constant battle with food like any girl. I put on a lot of weight last year, and I think that was due to stress - so I've been training hard and eating right.

Your skin is always glowing. What do you use?
I use rosehip oil at night and a La Mer hydrating paste in the morning. I also like Dove tinted moisturiser and M.A.C Face and Body Foundation.

What can you see yourself doing in five years' time?
I'll be 30 by then, so I don't know - maybe I'll be married! And being more of a businesswoman myself, rather than the face of a company. I want to do something that's some kind of an achievement in my own right. Watch this space.

LARA'S NEW FOCUS

Lara Bingle yesterday spoke out about parting ways with major sponsor ROC Eyewear.

Through her manager Chrissy Biasotto, the model maintained that a Twitter photo of herself wearing designer sunglasses did not spell the end for her relationship with the brand.

"The contract with ROC finished on April 30 and the photo was taken a month later," Biasotto said.

"Lara loved working with ROC and hopes to again in the future. She is at liberty to wear whatever sunglasses she likes."

Update: An item published in Sydney Confidential concerned Lara Bingle's sponsorship with ROC Eyewear.

Any inference that the relationship was terminated by ROC after Lara was seen in Karen Walker sunglasses should not have been drawn.

The Daily Telegraph apologises to Ms Bingle.

BIGGER, BOLDER: LARA 2.0

She rose to fame at 17, was engaged to one of Australia’s most famous sportsmen at 19, broken-hearted at 22 and has had more photo scandals than any 25-year-old deserves.

It hasn’t always been easy being Lara Bingle.

Now with a quarter century under her belt the sunny, goofy (ridiculously pretty) all-Australian blonde has big plans for re-invention and business success. “I've had my share of ups and downs" she says "I’ve learned a lot in the last 12 months and I finally feel ready to get on with it and work hard.”

Phase one is a determination to reinvigorate her modelling career "Sports Illustrated has always been my dream" she says "People forget that I've been a model since I was 15, I lived in Milan - modelling is my passion." So, it appears, is fashion. Bingle has an eponymous apparel range on the horizon for next year. “I'm trying to create a personal brand. I really admire Elle Macpherson. I look at all she's achieved and I've set that as a goal - if I'm lucky I just might get there.”

Lara has shown an honest vulnerability in the premiere season of her reality show (Being Lara Bingle) letting the cameras into her day-to-day life but were there any areas of her life that were off-bounds ? “It was a big decision to do the show. I'd been asked before but this year it felt right. There were a couple of things that I decided I needed to keep sacred (for me) like my boyfriend. If I've learned anything it's the importance of having a safe private space." Would she consider a second series? "It’s been a good experience – so sure I would".

Eternally positive, Bingle is determined to use her second chance wisely. "I realise now just how fortunate I am. I'm wiser. You know I have a great life, I'm really appreciative and I'm going to make the most of it".

LARA BINGLE PROMOTES NEW ZEALAND

She rose to fame in Tourism Australia's controversial Where the bloody hell are you? ads, but now Lara Bingle has turned her back on her homeland and is promoting New Zealand instead.

The model and reality TV star appears in the latest instalment of Air New Zealand's Kiwi Sceptics campaign, which is designed to change perceptions of The Land of the Long White Cloud in Australian who have never been there before.

While Bingle said it was a bit "weird'' to be promoting another country, she said her attitude was "the more the merrier''.

"It's close to Australia so it's not like promoting India,'' she said.

"It's somewhere that represents me - I'm kind of that tomboy girl and I went heli-boarding and stayed in an igloo.''

Bingle said the experience was "completely different'' to the one she had filming of the Where the bloody hell are you? campaign in Queensland's Whitsundays.

"I love going to the snow and snowboarding, skateboarding and wakeboarding,'' she said.

"It's nice to represent other parts of the world.

"The association is so nice for me instead of just fashion and beauty - it's something different and I love travelling.

"I got to travel with Tourism Australia and now I'm travelling with Air New Zealand.''

But Bingle said she wouldn't forget where she started.

"Tourism Australia helped me get to where I am today obviously... and it's definitely going to stick with me for the rest of my life,'' she said.

"When I went to New Zealand that's where the people there knew me from.

"I just never really thought much of New Zealand until I went. Now I'm planning another trip there.''

Bingle was paired with Kiwi guide Hayley Holt - also a former WAG and reality show star - as she explored Queenstown and surrounds.

As well as heli-boarding near Wanakasleeping in a snow cave halfway up a mountain at The Remarkables she appears snowboarding at Coronet Peak.

The six-minute video is narrated by Flight of the Conchords star Rhys Darby.

The trip, which can be seen at www.kiwisceptics.com, will feature in next week's episode of the Network Ten series of Being Lara Bingle.

A Tourism Australia spokesman said as a rule it doesn't comment on other country's tourism campaigns, preferring to focus instead on its own.

"The latest phase of our There's nothing like Australia campaign allows Australia to speak for itself and the approach is proving a huge global success, with the new ad being viewed 20 million times already since being launched just over six weeks ago,'' he said.

"New Zealand remains Australias largest international visitor arrival market, and with almost 1.2 million Kiwis visiting our shores last year, we think we're doing a pretty good job of getting Australia's message out to the world, including across the ditch.''

LARA: GQ MAGAZINE

We’ve all got a better idea of what it’s like being Lara Bingle, since her reality show began. Now our exclusive photos can reveal the naked truth of Lara Bingle.

The cameramen jostle for position. The sound guy adjusts his mic. There’s hair and makeup and a producer handing out release-waivers like coupons. But it’s all just another day at the office for Lara Bingle, the girl we first met as a beaming 17-year-old, asking us all where the bloody hell we were. Since then, hers has been a life measured out in tabloid ink, footage and photographs. Some good, some bad, some downright ugly. And now she’s back with Network Ten’s Being Lara Bingle.

But whether it’s the Kardashians, the Osbournes or any other celeb du jour, surely we’ve been here before. Same circus, different clowns. Right? Well, not exactly. Khloe or Kim she is not. As Bingle, now 25, assumes the makeup chair and sips on a skim latte, she’s all smiles and small talk and — considering the first interview of the day dragged her into a miserable winter morning at 4.30am — remarkably bubbly.

So what’s it really like being a reality TV star? A life of glamorous photo shoots and champagne soirees? Or one big pain in the arse? We got the girl from the Sutherland Shire to spill the beans on what life as a celebrity has taught her.

Don’t expect a day off.
“It’s intense. They’re filming 10 hours a day, seven days a week and we only get a 22-minute show. I was trying to find my feet at the beginning but I’m pretty comfortable with it now.”

Embrace the paparazzi.
“The paparazzi have a job just as much as I do and I’ve learnt to go with it — it’s the nature of the beast, it comes with the territory. I tried to fight it for a very long time and it just got me nowhere.”

LARA STRIPS OFF FOR GQ MAGAZINE

Lara Bingle has peeled the gear off again - this time for GQ Australia.

The magazine goes on sale next Monday and has a shout-out to Bingle's fashion designer boyfriend Gareth Moody, who she calls her "escape".

"During the week, the paparazzi are full on, but most Sundays I can pretty much run free and the paps don't follow me too much at night," she tells the mag.

"Need to keep some things sacred and off limits. Gareth is that escape in my life. He takes me away from the craziness. If I didn't have that, I'd go insane."

As for her show, which is on somewhat of a ratings decline, the model says she signed up for the reality treatment so the Australian public could get a look at the "real" Lara.

"I'm portrayed in a certain light in Australia and there's a lot of frustration that comes with that for me," she said.

"The biggest incentive for doing this show was to make people realise who I really am."

AUDIENCES WARM TO LARA'S CANDID MUM

Being Lara Bingle and the show's star, Lara Bingle, has polarised viewers, but her mother Sharon has been warmly received.

A candid Mrs Bingle said what viewers saw on the show was exactly what she was in real life.

"I have nothing to hide," she said.

"What you see is what you get with me. I'm not trying to be someone else.

"I'm certainly no actress, I'm just trying to do what's best."

Mrs Bingle said she was always 100 per cent honest with her daughter, even if it wasn't what Lara wanted to hear.

She said she admired the way Lara handled the microscopic attention on her life, through the good and bad times.

In particular, she said when Lara broke up with her former fiance, Michael Clarke, she dealt with the attention very well considering the circumstances.

"I think she held her head very high," she said.

"I will never forget the break-up between Michael and her. It was absolutely surreal what was going on.

"I couldn't believe the attention she was getting."

Mrs Bingle said like everyone, her daughter hurt at times.

"She's a very resilient girl, but she's also human.

"She hurts like everyone else."

LARA BINGLE'S NEW LOVE!

Lara Bingle has lifted the lid on her romance with fashion designer Gareth Moody, revealing to WHO Magazine that the relationship is different to anything she has experienced before.

While the couple have been quietly dating for eight months, they deliberately chose to keep the relationship away from the spotlight as they got to know each other.

Stepping out publicly for the first time to celebrate the occasion of Bingle's 25th birthday party on June 22, their strong affection for each other was obvious to the 50 guests who were invited to attend the black tie event held at the Carriageworks in Sydney.

"As much as Gareth understands my life, he takes me away from the craziness of it all," Bingle, resplendent in a full length gown by Kirrily Johnston, told WHO Magazine. "We don't talk about that part of my life, and he's taught me that I need to have a balance and step away from it or else I'll go insane. I have so many 'yes people' in my life ... I need an escape."

After blowing out the candles on her custom made skull cake, the birthday girl couldn't wipe the smile of her face as Moody—striking in his tuxedo—swept her into his arms. "Gareth is charming, he's a gentleman," Bingle revealed. "He is interested in finding out about me, rather than all the drama going on around me. It feels different to any relationship I've been in before. I feel happy and settled."

LARA BINGLE SHARES HER FAVOURITE BEAUTY BUYS

What does your skincare routine consist of?
I’d like to think my routine is simple yet smart for my skin. My saving graces are Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser, $26, Kiehl’s, The Jojoba Company 100% Natural Australian Jojoba, from $19.95, 02 9651 3030 (it’s a fabulous base and can be applied all over the body. I love it for my hands and cuticles also), Ella Baché Special Eye Cream, $73, Ella Baché, (it’s so lightweight and hydrating) and finally my ‘can’t live without’ Dove Protective Tinted Moisturiser SPF15, $10.52, from supermarkets and pharmacies.

How do you take care of your hair?
I’m not a big conditioner user but I love KMS California COLORVITALITY Blonde Shampoo, $28.95, available at selected hair salons, to keep my colour nice and vibrant, along with Moroccan Oil Restorative Hair Mask, $49.50, from adorebeauty.com.au, to bring my sometimes-traumatised hair to life.

Tom Ford Black Orchid, from $100, from David Jones

What about make-up?
I mix MAC Face and Body, $60, MAC Cosmetics, with Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, $90, from selected department stores and pharmacies, for perfect coverage.

La Mer The Radiant Concealer, $140, La Mer, NARS Laguna Bronzer, $55, Mecca Cosmetica, Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Intense, $100, from David Jones, (I’m not a really a blush wearer and this has an amazing clay consistency which sculpts and brightens), Kevyn Aucoin ‘The Mascara’ in Black, $40, Mecca Cosmetica,. To finish – La Mer Lip Balm, $90, La Mer, which is like velvet on the lips.

Best budget beauty buys?
Dove Protective Tinted Moisturiser SPF15, $10.52, from supermarkets and pharmacies.

And your biggest beauty indulgence?
I guess anything and everything La Mer…

I really enjoy outdoor activity! Schedules get busy but I jump on any chance I get to be outside and active. Wakeboarding with friends is a favorite past time. And of course hitting the slopes!

What is your diet like?
Everything in moderation I say! It’s about a healthy balance and not depriving yourself.

What is your biggest splurge?
Balenciaga Shoes from Paris

What is your best solution to a bad hair day?
I’m sure you’ve noticed I’m a bit of a hat wearer… But I also find a centre part; spray of water and spritz of sea salt spray seems to fix a sometimes-unruly mane.

Best trick to brighten up a morning after face?
Dove Protective Tinted Moisturiser SPF 15, $10.52, gives me a fresh, dewy finish no matter how tired my skin may be. I use it daily!

Best beauty on the go tip?
Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Oil is amazing. I use it throughout winter and apply it after the shower while I’m still wet so it penetrates the skin and keeps it hydrated and moisturised ALL day.

Fave lippy colour?
I am all about a red lip and my ultimate is Tom Ford Cherry Lush, $65, from David Jones. The name says it all.

What is your biggest beauty/skin sin?
I don’t really have one. I’m pretty regimental with my skincare routine and luckily have the opportunity to work with wonderful people who I pick up tips and tricks off.

What do you do in your down time?
Down time? Not much of that at the moment… I enjoy my friends and family – spending time with them keeps me grounded, focused and as relaxed as I can be with such a busy schedule.

What is your favourite holiday destination?
Florianópolis, Brazil.

What is the best beauty advice you’ve ever been given that you would like to share with our readers?
It’s the age-old beauty advice that I can’t turn away from – EVERY NIGHT before bed, WASH your makeup off! Skin needs time to rest, breath and rejuvenate.

LARA BREEZES INTO QUEENSTOWN

Lara Bingle made a high-profile arrival at the Queenstown Winter Festival yesterday. And then she did it all again. And again.

Travellers at the resort's airport were baffled when the blonde was greeted at the terminal by celebrity dancer Hayley Holt, the former squeeze of All Blacks captain Richie McCaw, and a film crew, which presumably explained the multiple arrivals.

Holt is believed to be hosting Bingle, best known as the face of the "Where the bloody hell are ya?" tourism promotion and for dating Aussie cricket captain (then vice-captain) Michael Clarke.

Bingle's Sydney-based fashion designer boyfriend Gareth Moody was keeping a low profile as she jetted in to shoot scenes for her new Australian reality TV show Being Lara Bingle.

She is also filming for Air New Zealand's "Kiwi Sceptics" promotional campaign, which aims to overcome Aussies' reluctance to holiday across the ditch.

Bingle said she was something of a Kiwi Sceptic, having never spent time here. When she is not taking in Queenstown's bars and restaurants, she will hang out on the ski slopes.

"We are thrilled to be working with Lara and our friends at Destination Queenstown," an Air New Zealand spokeswoman said. "Queenstown is one of the jewels in New Zealand's crown and we are hoping Lara's daredevil nature will showcase what Queenstown has to offer."

Bingle looked remarkably bright when she flew in, considering she had come straight from her 25th birthday bash at Sydney's trendy Carriageworks venue on Friday night.
