REHEARSING BINGLE HARD AT IT

Photobucket

Dancing with the Stars pair Lara Bingle and Carmelo Pizzino look like they've had a good workout at their rehearsal.

Bingle was fresh faced and full of beans when we snapped her on the way to the studio but looked abit puffed afterwoods.

Talking of being fresh faced, Bingle has been getting a bit fussy with who's going to put on her makeup for the Dancing with the Stars show.

In other Bingle news, Jason Derulo is rumoured to be flying to Sydney to see her at the end of the week.

LARA BINGLE WANTS HER OWN MAKE-UP ARTIST

A sequin is yet to sparkle on Channel 7's new series of Dancing With The Stars but it seems the network is already accommodating its prime starlet Lara Bingle.

Bingle, signed for a rumoured $50,000-plus fee, has been given permission to use her own make-up artist.

It's understood Bingle will be beautified every week by her long-time make-up guy Max May instead of the Channel 7 in-house team.

The request was granted after Bingle made the specific plea to use May - the man she claims she is collaborating with on her "coffee table beauty book", which is yet to find a publisher.

A representative for May confirmed he will work with Bingle on the show "for however long she is on there".

A Seven spokeswoman yesterday claimed not to know about the exception made for Bingle saying only that "we're not privy to this information so it's best to check with her agent". "Obviously we have hair and make-up people, who look after the contestants and hosts and judges, etc. Some people like to have their own, some use the in house team."

Bingle is very particular about who she allows to preen her for photo shoots and has long insisted on May's services for her fashion editorial work as well as last year's Woman's Day interview and photo shoot. May, who has also painted the faces of supermodels Helena Christensen and Miranda Kerr, is known for perfecting the "natural nude" look that Bingle favours.

BINGLE AND DERULO REKINDLE THE FLAME?

It's going to be a hot week for Lara Bingle with US pop star Jason Derulo to rekindle his long-distance relationship with the model by flying into Sydney specifically for their latest romantic reunion.

We hear the singer, best known for his hit Whatcha Say, is booked on a flight to arrive towards the end of the week.

Bingle was not contactable, holed up in rehearsals for the television show Dancing With The Stars, which is scheduled to go to air on Seven next month.

But Derulo's official website shows his schedule is clear, with his next concert date arranged for the University of Wisconsin in the US on May 6.

"He's coming to hang out with her," a friend told us.

Bingle and Derulo met in Sydney at last year's ARIA Awards in November and have maintained a close friendship.

The pair caught up again in London in February this year, when Bingle attended the Brit Awards as the guest of Derulo.

His visit is purely a holiday and it's understood the pair will get out of Sydney, away from prying eyes and media.

FIVE MINUTES WITH LARA BINGLE

Lara Bingle gave Grazia the scoop on what her plans are for Australian Fashion Week and dished up some style and beauty advice too. Start taking notes…

Style or trend?
I think style. Trends are always changing but style is individual. It's nice having those key pieces in your wardrobe, like vintage that you can wear all year round.

Who are your favourite Australian designers?
Dion Lee, Josh Goot and Ellery. They're my friends too so it's great having the chance to support them. Even when I go overseas I still wear Australian designers. We just have such great brands!

What's your must-have piece this season?
Leather pants and a good blazer.

Do you have any style icons?
I love Chloe Sevigny, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Kate Moss and Alexa Chung.

Do you have any exciting plans for Australian Fashion Week?
This year I'll be working with stylist and blogger Romy Frydman during fashion week, which is super exciting!

What's your favourite city to shop in?
Definitely Paris.

What's your top body-confidence tip?
If you're healthy and happy on the inside it will show on the outside.

Can you spill any of your beauty secrets?
Drink lots of water and get lots of sleep. I also love products like Dove tinted moisturiser, which I carry everywhere, and I can't get enough of coconut water.

Do you have any exciting plans for the rest of the year?
I'm just happy to be home in Australia right now with friends and family. Can't get any better than that!

LARA BINGLE TALKS SUNGLASSES AND STYLE

We sat down with Lara Bingle, who was in Perth for the S/S 11-12 Ellery show, to chat about her upcoming sunglasses collaboration and how she defines her own style.

Harper’s BAZAAR: How did the sunglasses collaboration come about?

Lara Bingle: “Well obviously I’ve travelled a lot through modelling and other work and just realised over the last year that I’ve bought so many pairs of sunglasses from overseas, from vintage to higher-end frames, and so I have this massive collection at home and I thought, ‘No celebrity has actually designed a sunglasses range in Australia.’ So I’m joining forces with a brand and a retail chain, so it’s a three-part collaboration.”

HB: So where will you take inspiration from? What are your favourite frames right now?

LB: “My three favourites at the moment would be a matte-black pair like the Ellery cat’s-eye frame. I love a Ray-Ban Wayfarer, and plain circular frames, like a nerd-ish type of frame. If it goes to plan I would like to do an eight-piece basics range that is just the core classics, and then have three to four more fashion-forward frames, and then I would like to change those three to four every season.”

HB: So this is the direction you want to take your career at the moment? Would you ever consider collaborating on other fashion ranges?

LB: “Yeah, definitely. I would prefer to be behind the scenes and creating as opposed to putting myself out there in the public eye and being a presenter on Getaway, for example — that doesn’t interest me as much. I’m pretty shy; I guess people don’t know that. Over the last four years I’ve become more and more interested in fashion, and I feel that there’s a gap in the market; there’s not that cool kind of It girl type in Australia.”

HB: Blogs such as They All Hate Us have identified you as that girl now, it seems …

LB: “Yeah, I mean the Jessica Harts and Megan Gales and Mirandas [Kerr] all have their place. I kind of want to project a more accessible and cool kind of image.”

HB: And the coffee-table book you’re releasing is part of this plan?

LB: “Yes, the book is a collaboration between Max May and myself. Max is my best friend and also my makeup artist and has been now for four years. Over the last two years we’ve come up with all these different looks and are both very inspired by that easy Australian glamour, so the images will be very Australian, very raw, lots of cool Polaroid shots. So it’s not a how-to; there won’t be any step-by-step on how to get this look. We’ve thought we might actually do that on our own blog, and in a perfect world I would also release an app.”

HB: Whose style do you admire?

LB: “When I’m dressing myself just day-to-day, sometimes I need some inspiration and living in Australia, I always look for inspiration overseas, so Kate Moss, the Olsen twins — that kind of undone style — Alexa Chung, Chloe Sevigny, they would be my favourite four. Also I really love vintage shopping now and mixing it with high-end pieces because in the past, having a stylist, I wasn’t able to do that as much. Now I’m really finding my own way.”

HB: So what are your style staples at the moment?

LB: “A good pair of leather pants; I love the ones I have from Bassike. A good blazer, a whole lot of T-shirts, vintage, plain white, grey marle … And I am always on the look-out for great shoes. I love anything by Balenciaga and Pierre Hardy and Celine is one of my favourite brands at the moment. And also my brown Proenza Schouler satchel bag.”

LARA'S DANCING HER WAY TO RESPECT

Photobucket

Lara Bingle hopes "Dancing With The Stars" will boost her standing with the Australian public.

The fashion model's reputation was built on being the girl next door, but her rocky relationship history has given that a battering.

"I know not everyone is going to like me - there's been lots of ups and downs - I'm just going to have fun," Bingle said. "People don't know me. I rarely do interviews.

"[Dancing With The Stars] is a chance to be myself."

The 23-year-old is one of 11 stars in the new series of the Channel 7 show.

Bingle said she would be dancing in memory of her father, Graham, who died of bowel cancer just under two years ago.

"My dad would absolutely love to see me in DWTS - he was my biggest supporter," Bingle said.

"My mum and my brother will definitely come (to the show) every week," she said.

Seven is yet to announce the on-air date.
