BINGLE ADDS SPARKLE TO PERTH SHOW

Michael Clarke's former fiancee, model Lara Bingle, jetted into town to take a front-row seat last night at one of Perth's hottest fashion shows, the Ellery Spring 2011 Collection by Perth-born designer Kym Ellery.

Bingle oozed glamour as she walked the red carpet with Ellery and rising Perth supermodel Dempsey Stewart at one40william in the CBD, where the edgy fashion event took place in front of 250 invited guests, including Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi, Premier Colin Barnett and fashion magazine editors who had flown in for the event.

Dressed in a signature Ellery outfit, Bingle said she was his "number one fan" when asked about Clarke's expected rise to the captaincy of the Australian cricket team following Ricky Ponting's decision to step down yesterday.

She said she couldn't imagine a better person for the role and he "remains very much in my life".

The excited crowd watched Ellery deliver the first glimpse of the new collection, which featured 13 Perth models. A string trio played classic rock tunes.

Following the show, guests were invited to join Ellery, Bingle and festival VIPs for an after-party at Wolfe Lane bar.

Today, interstate media and guests will be treated to an intimate cruise on the Swan River, courtesy of Perth Fashion Festival director Tony Sage.

LARA'S ALL IN THE CLEAR

Lara Bingle will escape any penalty despite publicly saying she had lost her licence after copping driving demerit points for unnamed friends.

The model, who later claimed she was joking, came under a Roads and Traffic Authority investigation over her gaffe on live radio on Thursday.

A RTA spokesman refused to comment on the case yesterday but said: "It is a criminal offence to provide false or misleading information when nominating another driver for an offence.

"Penalties for making a false statutory declaration are severe and a conviction could lead to a fine, jail or both.

"This can apply to both the licence holder nominating another driver and the driver who has falsely elected to take responsibility for the offence. (But) it is inappropriate to comment on specific cases or allegations".

Bingle will get her licence back next month after losing it in December due to a demerit point.

LARA BINGLE'S BUSINESS PLANS

Fashion entrepreneur Lara Bingle took to the airwaves yesterday to announce a raft of ambitious business deals that have some in the industry scratching their heads.

Looking dishevelled as she left for the 2DayFM studios in a taxi early yesterday, Bingle got behind the mic and talked up plans for a line of sunglasses as well as a "coffee table beauty book" while also bragging about being paid a lot more than the reported $50,000 fee for appearing on Dancing With The Stars.

"I'm releasing a sunglasses range this year, it's something that no one has done in Australia," Bingle announced, seemingly oblivious to ranges currently available by Peter Morrissey, Wayne Cooper, Kim Ellery and Leona Edmiston among others. "It's a collaboration between a brand, myself and a department store."

The one-time Australian Tourism ambassador also detailed plans for her soon-to-be-released tome which will feature stylised photographs of herself as well as some of her high-profile model mates.

"It's a coffee table book all based on Australia and Australian women and you know a lot of my friends are involved ... models and stuff," she said.

One fashion insider noted that Bingle's bold plans sounded "impressive" but came as a surprise to many in the industry.

Confirming this, representatives for both Myer, David Jones and Target admitted they were not in talks with Bingle or her management about a sunglasses range.

Channel 7, meanwhile, refused to comment on Bingle's DWTS salary. A rep for the model, who hitched a lift in Kyle Sandilands' Ferrari after the interview, didn't return calls yesterday.

LARA BINGLE'S ON-AIR POINTS BUNGLE

In an on-air slip yesterday, bikini model Lara Bingle said she had illegally copped demerit points for her friends, which caused her to lose her driver's licence.

Adding insult to injury, the RTA has now launched an investigation, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Discussing her driving ban on 2DayFM's Kyle and Jackie O Show on breakfast radio yesterday, Bingle - who lost her licence in December last year following a speeding fine - said: "It was [because of a] loss of points.

"I had too many," before she added: "I took some for my friends."

The admission surprised host Kyle Sandilands who noted: "That's totally illegal ... you're not allowed to take points for your friends."

Bingle later attempted to defuse the comment via her Twitter page.

"Just to clarify I never took any of my friends points regarding their licence. I said it in sarcasm. End of story. LB," she wrote.
Soon after hitting the airwaves early yesterday, a member of the public contacted the RTA and told of Bingle's on-air confession.

An RTA spokeswoman yesterday said an investigation was under way and that, at worst, Bingle could face fraud charges in a criminal court and if found guilty of any demerit-point offences would face a maximum of two months in prison under the Road Safety Act.

When the spokeswoman was told that Bingle had later denied her actions, the spokeswoman said the RTA would still pursue the investigation saying: "Yes we will be the judge of that."

Late last night at the annual Prix De Marie Claire awards Bingle again insisted that her comments about copping her friends' points was a joke.

"I lost my licence," she said. "I lost it on my own, that's the truth.

"I get it back in just over a month.

"Of all the things I said [in the interview] I can't believe that small thing was taken out and has been turned into such a big deal.

"I can't help not take it personally.

"It was a joke," she said.

Also on air yesterday Bingle made light of the fact her main mode of transport since losing her licence was a bicycle.

Bingle said she drives it to and from the gym everyday and loves riding through Darling Point.

LARA GETS THE SANDILANDS FERRARI TREATMENT

Photobucket

For some very strange reason Lara Bingle was a bit camera shy when we snapped her leaving with Kyle Sandilands in his Ferrari after having been interviewed by him and Jackie O earlier.

The Ferrari treatment was a bit better than how Bingle started the day, taking a humble taxi to the studio for the interview.

Bingle isn’t one to hang around in the cheap seats for very long though and Kyle was soon chauffeuring her in the style she wants to be accustomed to.

After Kyle’s easy going interview with her maybe she doesn’t want to start a rumour that they’re becoming more than just friends. Don’t worry about starting rumours Lara, that’s what we’re here for!

Bingle caught up with her manager Titus Day and noticeable flicked through what was suspiciously like a Dancing With The Stars contract.

Update: We later snapped Lara Bingle leaving Fratelli Paradiso in Potts Point, with manager Titus Day.

Earlier Bingle was seen playing around with her Dancing With The Stars contract earlier in the day, pen in hand ready to write 'Love Lara X' where it says signature.

LARA BINGLE ADDRESSES RUMOURS WITH KYLE AND JACKIE O

Lara Bingle was up bright and early this morning to join Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O on their breakfast radio program for a quick co-hosting stint.

During her half hour on the show, Kyle and Jackie O took the opportunity to get Lara to either confirm or deny rumours that have been surrounding her lately. The model was coy about her love life but denied she’s dating Justin Hemmes, who she’s been linked to, saying, “He owns half of Sydney.

I’m bound to bump into him,” before describing him as “such a nice guy, such a gentleman.” The topic of rumoured long distance love Jason Derulo came up, but Lara simply said, “I recently spent time with him in London. We’re friends.” As for secret talks to get back with ex-fiancé Michael Clarke? No truth to that one either, though Lara shared that they’re still friends and that she still follows a bit of the cricket after watching the game for five years.

In terms of her career, Lara revealed that she’s going to release a range of sunglasses by the end of the year, but she wouldn’t confirm or deny whether she’s a contestant on Dancing With the Stars this season. (Judging from the muffled laughs though, it seems like she is!) And despite spending time with Jason in the studio, Lara will not be releasing her own album. She laughed, “I am the worst singer [but] really good in the shower — amazing in the shower!”

LARA'S A REAL SPORTSGIRL AFTER FLAT SPEEDO CAMPAIGN

Bikini babe Lara Bingle has lingered in Melbourne after attending the LMFF shows last week.

The former cricket WAG appears to be forging a relationship with Sportsgirl after her Speedo campaign fell flat.

Bingle was the star guest at an exclusive Sportsgirl dinner in Federation Square on Monday night and was waxing lyrical, to the point of almost advertising, on Twitter about the label.

She even posted a picture of herself wearing a dress given to her by designer Richard Nicoll for Sportsgirl.

Update: Lara wore vintage Balenciaga.

LARA HAS A REALLY GOOT TIME

Bikini babe Lara Bingle joined the fashionable throng in Melbourne yesterday, stepping out to watch Helena Christensen in action in the LMFF menswear parade.

Bingle, who has been jetsetting around the globe in recent months, put on her glad rags to support friend Max May who was doing the make-up for the menswear spectacular.

And she was clearly excited to be here, tweeting "Hello Melbourne!" and "feeling good in 'goot' by Josh Goot today!

LARA WILL COMPETE ON DANCING WITH THE STARS

Just when it seemed Lara Bingle might spend the rest of the year waiting for an offer of work, one has arrived from Channel 7.

Bingle, who proved herself a surprise talent on the ice for Channel 9's Dancing On Ice series in 2006, is among the first signings to Seven's latest series of Dancing With The Stars.

Confidential has learned that Bingle is likely to enter the dance rehearsal studios along with the rest of the yet-to-be-announced celebrity cast next month to prepare for the ballroom dancing-inspired show which makes its return to air around June. Producers are currently in the throes of choosing a partner for the petite model.

Even if Bingle is eliminated from the series in the earliest rounds, she is guaranteed $50,000 from the appearance - what is believed to be one of her first major earnings for the year.

Yesterday her rep Titus Day was not available for comment on the offer and Seven declined to comment, stating that the network was some weeks away from confirming the celebrity line-up for the 11th series of the show.

A second certain signing is buxom Melbourne celebrity housewife Brynne Edelsten, the wife of one-time disgraced medico Geoffrey Edelsten.

Although Bingle aquitted herself well on the ice almost five years ago when she finished runner-up to Jake Wall.

If Bingle progresses to the finals, she could potentially make as much as $200,000.

Dancing With The Stars returns to Seven this June.

LUNCHING LARA BINGLE'S IN THE IVY LEAGUE

It has been a whole week since Justin Hemmes was spotted cavorting anywhere with a topless woman and we were starting to think the hotelier was losing his mojo.

And then we received word that Hemmes has been seeing rather a bit of Lara Bingle lately.

Hemmes confirmed he and the model did have lunch together at his Ivy pub last week but he denies it was more than a meal.

"There's nothing going on," he said, laughing at being busted again. "Seriously, nothing."

Having lost her driver's licence for speeding at Christmas, Bingle has become a common sight riding her bike through Sydney as she waits until her suspension lapses in May.

With a patchy driving history to her credit - there was the time she crashed her Mini into a neighbour's car while swerving to miss a dog, then there was the time her former fiancé Michael Clarke had to push her off The Kingsway at Cronulla after she ran out of petrol, and who could forget the time her $300,000 Aston Martin was towed from a no parking zone in the city - one might think Bingle would follow the law when it comes to bike legislation.

But no, a helmet was not part of her outfit yesterday.

WE'VE BEEN WAITING LARA

Lara Bingle wanders down the road to join friend Max May for a coffee in Darlinghurst wearing a flamboyantly long black skirt which she seemed to hae trouble avoiding stepping on.

Bingle was later seen going through an alluring routine of pulling her jacket tightly around her, flicking her hair back, peeking around concers and other charming movements much too complicated for the average person.

LARA BINGLE'S MUM SELLING FAMILY HOME

From the street it looks a fairly humble weatherboard home with storybook gables and rustic cabin appeal.

Yet this is the house where Lara Bingle's dreams of grandeur first took flight, a three-bedroom Shire home with a neatly trimmed hedge out front and the seductive lights of Westfield Miranda blocks away.

As a teenager, Bingle spent her summers splashing in the backyard pool in one of the many bikinis that would become the staple of her modelling career, dreaming, we imagine, of the day she would turn her back on Yowie Bay and strike out for the more glamorous lights of Bondi Beach.

Now the house is on the market, with property agents predicting that Lara's mother Sharon Bingle will sell the family home for more than $1.1 million when it goes to auction on March 19.

Almost three years after the death of Bingle's father Graham to cancer, it seems his widow is ready to pack up her memories and begin a new chapter.

Yesterday, Mrs Bingle could not be contacted for comment about the forthcoming sale of the home that has been the family retreat for 28 years - just one year less than her marriage to Graham.

It was in the dual level home that cricketer Michael Clarke slept for three days to support his then fiancées following the death of her father in 2008 to liver and pancreatic cancer.

Update: 31st March - The property failed to sell at auction on the weekend, passing in shy of expectations. It is believed Mrs Bingle is looking to downsize now that Lara and older brother Josh have flown the coop.

Update: May 2011 - The house officially sold on May 11th.
