LARA BINGLE DISCUSSES BECOMING A DESIGNERS MUSE

Lara Bingle has spoken about following in the stylish footsteps of Audrey Hepburn and Maria Callas to become the muse du jour for Australian designer Jayson Brunsdon's Spring/Summer 2010 collection of glamorous, beachy designs.

For Bingle, a passionate lover of fashion, the creative tribute was both flattering and a welcome relief from the excessive media attention she's received while attending Australian Fashion Week.

"I've been bombarded," Bingle said of the camera crews that have followed her throughout Fashion Week.

But the 22-year-old insisted all the hysteria had being worthwhile when she learned Brunsdon had decided she was the muse for his new show.

"I think it's very flattering and I'm excited to view his interpretation of my style and how I dress," Bingle told AAP backstage before Brunsdon's show.

She described the collection as featuring "lots of white and a few sequins and it's beach glamour".

And despite her addiction to runway fashion, she insisted her heart still belonged to the beach.

"Always, I don't think I could live far away from the beach," she said.

Bingle is covering Fashion Week for the Harper's Bazaar website, which she says is her first step towards "really focusing on my career and where I want to be in the next two years".

"It's a clean slate now," said Bingle, who recently split with her cricket star fiance Michael Clarke.

"I think fashion is something I feel passionately about and I'm thrilled to be here and wearing Australian designers."

As for Clarke, she confirmed that he was supportive of her new role as a fashion blogger-meets-reporter.

"He is used to me having all these creative ideas and really wanting to try new things," she said.
