Lara Bingle will play host to the world's leading fashion bloggers after signing on as an ambassador for Fashion Week.
She postponed a trip to Thailand to join the NSW Fashion Ambassador program and put on an afternoon of activities with US blogger Tommy Ton.
"I'm a big fan of his Jak & Jil blog and I want to take him to Cafe Sydney and the MCA," Bingle tells Insider.
"International guests tend to get bombarded when they come to town, so I want to do something outside of fashion with him."
Other top fashion identities taking part in the initiative to promote Sydney are Kym Ellery, Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett from Romance Was Born, Jessica Stein and Jess Blanch.
They'll be teamed up with international fashion stars Bryanboy, Susie Bubble, Rei Shito and Hillary Kerr respectively.
Fashion Week kicks off tomorrow at Carriageworks and Bingle will attend to support industry friends, including Christopher Esber. "He's making me a dress and I'll wear it to the show and then I'll go to Romance Was Born at night," she says.
Afterwards, Bingle will jet off to Asia for a UK magazine shoot and then to New York, where she plans on a slight change of career.
"I plan to spend a lot of time there over the next few months to study nutrition," she says.
"I haven't got a US agent right now but I have lots of friends in Manhattan so I go to get inspired and return home for work," she says.
The Fashion Ambassador program was set up by Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner to raise Sydney's fashion profile.
The idea is to try to promote Sydney as a global style destination and make the city more attractive to tourists, investors as well as international students.
It paid off last year when Bryanboy's "10 Reasons Why I Love Sydney" was viewed by 387,000 Twitter fans.
Kym Ellery plans to impress the flamboyant blogger this year by flying him on seaplane to Palm Beach's Boathouse for cocktails, then hosting a barbecue at her house afterwards.
